Evidently. I edited each one sometimes over a dozen times and saw it
early on (like on the 9th) but never gave it a second thought until today
when I spent a *long* time poring over the log files. It doesn't impact
everything, because everything else seems to have worked fine. Just
newsfeeds.conf. At least AFAIK. The active.* files I notice have the
same thing. I haven't cleared those because I suspect doing so requires
the server to be down for the duration, and I want to do a little more
research.

*I'm* the one who saw it originally and did nothing. I am going to try a
transfer from a Win2k box here to see what the difference is. I have an
open thread on the dnews site, and if following their explicit
instructions results in this, I figure it's something they'd want to know.
