Database & Application Miscellaneous: Zip Backup & Recovery routine

212| Sat, 17 May 2008 14:12:00 GMT| cliffpulis_jr| Comments (8)
I'm looking for a method of compressing and uncompressing dbf and associated
files for my application backup and recovery process. Commercially available
routines like pkzip are expensive to license and distribute with an
application.

Is there a way within dBASE PLUS to perform the equivalent of zip and unzip?

Does anyone know of a routine that can perform these tasks that is freeware?

TIA,
Cliff

I clicked on this and it wants to download a file. That said, is this
actually an exe? If so, why the '1'? There's no details ... no
instructions ...

Sorry Ken, i was in a hurry and gave the wrong url. Instead of the
vdbstuff.html i gave the direct download-address.
Fortunately Michael came to save me thanks Mike :-))

Not weird, as many people block ALL exe's from coming into their system.

Guess it depends on the ISP. Mine (Earthlink) doesn't care ...
